David Hegarty is best known in the Bay Area as the organist of the Castro Theatre for the last 33 years. He also plays regularly at the Stanford Theatre (Palo Alto) and at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. He is a prolific composer/arranger, and, as a concert organist, he specializes in his own transcriptions of film music from Hollywood's Golden Age.

Symphonic Impressions for Two Organs and Virtual Orchestra

featuring the Hegarty-Mervine Duo

David Hegarty and Kenrick Mervine perform at two new Allen organs in the sumptuous acoustics of St. Anne of the Sunset Catholic Church in San Francisco.

This recording represents a sampling of the concert repertoire of The Hegarty-Mervine Organ Duo (David Hegarty of San Francisco and New York, and Kenrick Mervine of Denver, Colorado). Many of these selections are arranged by Hegarty to suggest the combined sonorities of organ and orchestra. David plays the orchestra parts live from one of the Allen digital organs, utilizing a Korg sound module accessed via MIDI, while Ken performs the organ parts on a second Allen organ.
